Pino - Standard Double Room

The pine tree symbolizes life, longevity and immortality. Pine trees are the symbol of fidelity in marriage and there are numerous myths about devoted lovers being magically transformed into pine trees. Pines are planted as “marriage trees” and are thought to cast a spell to attract the affections of another.

Almendro - Standard Double Room

Located on the ground floor with veranda and leading to the expansive grand terrace with views out to the Mediterranean this room depicts our interpretation of Southern Europe meeting the Mediterranean Sea. The room is air-conditioned and  is comfortable and bright, furnished in earthy tones intertwined with blue with a double bed, en-suite shower, basin and toilet.

Almonds in Spain originated in Western Asia and North Africa. The white blossoms produce sweet almonds while the pink ones produce the bitter variety. The tasty almond nuts have been cultivated since biblical times and were highly prized by the Greeks and Romans. Almond trees quickly spread around the shores of the Mediterranean. The Moors first introduced them to Spain in numbers. According to one charming legend, an 11th Century ruler of Seville, the Caliph Al Mutamid, was responsible for planting great almond orchards all around Cordoba. His favourite wife, Al Rumaikiya, was homesick for the winter snows of her childhood home in the north, and to please her Al Mutamid had the plains and hillsides surrounding the city planted so thickly with almonds that when it blossomed the entire countryside looked as though it was blanketed by a late winter snowfall.

Olivo- Double Room Standard

Located on the ground floor with veranda and leading to the expansive grand terrace with views out to the Mediterranean, this room depicts a wise old Olive tree and is comfortable, spacious and decorated to communicate the beauty of gnarled olive wood. The room is air-conditioned and is comfortable and bright, furnished with a double bed, en-suite shower, basin and toilet.

The olive tree is the symbol of peace and divine blessings. Its branches were made into crowns and worn by Greek brides, Roman conquerors and the gods who lived atop Mount Olympus. Olive branches were also placed on chimneys and over doors to ward off lightning and keep sorcerers, demons and wicked ghosts at bay. The olive tree and its fruit have been used in healing spells, love-magic and fertility rites. Its oil has been used to anoint altar candles, bless religious statues and fuel sacred lamps.

The Spanish equivalent of the saying “an apple a day keeps the doctor away” is “Aceite de oliva, todo mal quita”. (Olive oil makes all pain go).

Higuera - Superior Double Room

The doors and windows are fitted with mosquito nets for use in the summer months. 

Name after the common fig, the tree has been cultivated since ancient times and grows wild in dry and sunny areas and is well suited to the Mediterranean climate. In 1769, Spanish missionaries led by Junipero Serra brought the first figs to California. The common fig is grown for its edible fruit. Figs can be eaten fresh or dried. They are a good source of dietary fibre and the essential mineral, manganese.

In Greek mythology, the god Apollo sends a crow to collect water from a stream for him. The crow sees a fig tree and waits for the figs to ripen, tempted by the fruit. He knows that he is late and that his tardiness will be punished, so he gets a snake from the stream and collects the water. He presents Apollo with the water and uses the snake as an excuse. Apollo sees through the crow’s lie and throws the crow, goblet, and snake into the sky where they form the constellations Hydra, Crater, and Corvus.

The pomegranate originated in the region of modern-day Iran and has been cultivated since ancient times throughout the Mediterranean region. It is a beautiful tree with rich green foliage in spring and summer and decorated splendidly with its red fruits in season.

The ancient city of Granada in Spain was renamed after the fruit during the Moorish period and today the province of Granada uses pomegranate as a charge in heraldry for its canting arms.

Pomegranate seeds are a rich source of dietary fibre and vitamins.

Family Room

This two roomed unit is air-conditioned, the main bedroom with double bed and another room with two single beds for children under 12, and has an en-suite shower, basin and toilet.

Also known as St. John’s Bread, the Carob tree is an indigenous evergreen tree of the Mediterranean region and some parts of Western Asia and the Middle East. The carob is cultivated primarily in the Mediterranean. Carob plants bear pods which are used for various purposes.

A kind of gum known as the locust bean gum is obtained from the seeds of the carob. It can reach ten meters in height when fully grown. The carob possesses compound leaves, bears green flowers and large violet brown fruiting bodies called bean pods or carob pods. The carob was traditionally used as a food and animal feed in countries bordering the Mediterranean. The carob pods were believed to be the food that the biblical John the Baptist ate in the wild, for this reason, the carob is also known as the St. John’s bread.
